WINDY 46 CHINOOK HAVILDAR II

The Windy 46 Chinook stands as the leader in class when it comes to performance, handling, and build quality.

Representing the final iteration of the remarkable Chinook range, the 46 introduces an extended powered-opening sunroof, enhancing the all-weather potential of this sophisticated powerhouse of a powerboat. Crafted in Vastervik on the East Coast of Sweden, she proudly showcases her Scandinavian heritage.

The formidable twin 5.5-liter IPS-600 Volvo Penta pod power seamlessly aligns with the exceptionally capable Hans J Johnsen hull form, propelling her to a remarkable 40 knots (an exceptionally rare speed for an 11-ton cruising boat) while maintaining ease of handling. The main deck and cockpit exude simplicity yet effectiveness, providing ample seating, a wet bar, and sunbathing areas both fore and aft, all complementing three well-sized and practical cabins.

In contrast to many comparable boats with a lone helm at the controls, the Chinook features a dedicated, adjustable helm seat, accompanied by a triple bench seat for passengers to enjoy the view over its gracefully sloping bow. The helm position is, quite simply, the best for a boat of this size. The floor adjusts with three selectable levels, the wheel is adjustable for a perfect fit, and the throttles fall readily to hand. While many boats struggle with poor helm ergonomics, this one comes close to perfection in terms of sports-cruiser helm design. The helm surround is covered in a Matte Grey Nextel paint coating, eliminating glare reflected onto the large windscreens, and the main plotter adjusts electrically to ensure the sun never interferes with visibility. When the sun is desired, a simple flick of the rocker switch sends the sunroof canvas gliding neatly back into its garage in the hardtop, providing a fully open boat. When clouds gather and the wind picks up, the motor closes the concertina shut, offering protection from the elements for you and your crew.
Below decks, thoughtful and highly practical design prevails.

Dark Marsh Oak timber finishes the cabin soles to contrast with Walnut cabinetry and Pewter-toned worktops. The linear galley offers ample storage, and there is dedicated space beneath the saloon sole boards. Two aft cabins stretch toward the stern, featuring a double (port) and a level twin berth (starboard), both equipped with full hanging lockers, good lighting, and ventilation, along with heating if needed. The day head/shower is amidships, featuring a natural teak grating, a spacious round shower, and an electric toilet. In the saloon, the lounge area to starboard benefits from excellent lighting through the four portrait hull windows, including a comfortable sofa, a table, and ample storage space. Moving forward from the bulkhead is the Master cabin, complete with en suite facilities to port. A centerline double bed is surrounded by eye-level lockers, a double hanging locker to starboard, and a vanity unit to port. The heads/shower ensures you leave feeling clean, refreshed, and ready for the next challenge or a pleasant dinner in the company ashore. Accommodating three double cabins and two high-quality WC/showers is no small feat, yet the 46 never feels cramped.

Performance through the water, as expected from Windy, is a true revelation. These boats are owned by those who wish to push the boundaries, seeking the reassurance of a hull that relishes having its reins lengthened, breaking into a canter, and delivering them safely over the finish line and into the winner’s circle, breathless yet unbowed.

These boats are simply fabulous, and Havildar II is a very well-specified, two-owner from new, Mediterranean-spec example.
